PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Ammongas has built a NH3 safety system for a nuclear power plant in Finland.

On nuclear power plants the requirements to safety are very strict, and no faults on the extra safety systems, in case of errors on the main systems, are allowed. It was under a huge pressure Ammongas had to deliver an absorption system for ammonia in case of a leakage in the central ammonia cooling system. The job was complicated further by the fact, that the facility had to be built on a fraction of the space normally used, and in an already existing building.

Ammongas designed the facility in small parts, which could fit through the already existing building, to the small space where it was erected, without compromising the quality. The facility is built in polypropylene in order to withstand corrosion, extend the product life and keep the weight low.

The facility was designed and built in Denmark in 2013. In 2014 it was transported to Finland and built into the existing facility.
